[459] Kellyco Metal Detectors Ripoff -

Kellyco metal detectors are a ripoff. They tell you in their adds that the metal detector will block metal like foil tabs, aluminum cans but when I received my detector from them, I went outside, and the first thing i dug up was a foil tab! - I contacted them and told them of the problem and asked for a refund. They said that they didn't give refunds but would give me credit for a more expensive metal detector. So, Here Kellyco lied about what a metal detector can do and then turned around and tried to scam me into buying a more expensive metal detector?

Kellyco detectors are a rip off!

  • What detector did you buy?

It sounds like you did not have it set properly. With most detectors, you have different settings and you can choose whether or not to dig pulltabs.

Sometimes you want to dig pulltabs, because they have the same electrical conductivity as gold rings. If you eliminate pulltabs, you also eliminate gold rings.

I agree that Kellyco should give you a refund if you are not satisfied, but I think in this case it is operator error instead of a defective detector.

  • Do all metal detectors block trash if set up properly? - Mine didn't and I am an experienced hunter. I can tell you that Kellyco shouldn't make claims like "can block pull tabs" when they don't block them totally. It is misleading! - Especially when the don't provide a satisfaction guarantee.

  • Yes, Kellyco shouldn't make claims that their detectors can't do. Kellyco metal detectors are pooled from other companies, however, kellyco claims to test every detector before selling it which leads to wonder why they don't tell the truth about how well they work. I guess it has something to do with greed =(
